Now got 500GB on my Lappy

I bought a 500GB Seagate 2.5 inch SATA hard disk in Funan DigitaLife Mall for S$194, bundled with an external enclosure. The price is reasonable compared to what it was a few months ago. I imaged my old Macbook hard drive and swapped the new one with it…. Loving the extra storage space. Downloads galore!

Frequent hangups while using Huawei E170 with StarHub

It hasn’t been a month yet and I’m already having lots of problems with using the Huawei E170 modem that came with my StarHub subscription. Grrr! There are frequent disconnections/hangups that occur at irregular intervals. What’s more, my Mac froze 4 times in a period of a week and I had to shutdown and reboot [...]

Subscribed to 7.2Mbps mobile broadband

Though I can surf for free throughout Singapore thru Wireless@SG hotspots, I always wanted a faster broadband connection with wider coverage. Coverage with Wireless@SG hotspots is spotty and mostly available only when there are commercial establishments or MRT stations or McDonalds nearby. They claim you can surf at 512kbps but I seldom get download speeds [...]

Thinking of upgrading my hard disk to 500GB

I only have 340MB of disk space left on my Macbook so I’m backing up some files to my external hard drive. I’m seeing my free space quickly decline after moving in to the apartment where the internet subscription they have is MaxOnline Ultimate — probably the fastest in Singapore, with download speed of 100Mbps [...]

Starting out with Web Development

I remember a few years back when I was starting out with developing a web presence. Some of the questions I asked myself:
1.  What language shall I use to develop for the web?
2. How do I present content to effectively communicate to the target audience/consumer?
3. Which hosting platform shall I choose when I finally publish [...]

Google Maps for Mobile Phones

I was playing around with the latest version of Google Maps (currently at version 2.2) and noticed a number of enhancements.
Google has a good tagline: “Download the application to your mobile phone, and never carry a paper map again.” And indeed I agree. With Google Maps Mobile, you can check out map views or satellite [...]

Migrating to a Mac

Apple designs are such a beauty to behold. Even more so with its software and user interface. I never imagined migrating to a Mac would be such a painless experience.
Out of the box, my Macbook came with all the necessary basic applications such as iTunes, QuickTime, Safari for web browsing, iMovie for editing videos, iWeb for creating [...]

For over 5 months now, I have maximized the use of features of this phone - 3G, Wi-fi, GPS, Accelerometer, TV-out and mobile browsing. It has been a pleasurable experience so I want to share my compilation of useful applications for the N95 that makes your handset more than just a phone — it [...]

Skype on N95

When I’m out of the country I normally use Skype on my laptop to make free calls to my Skype contacts in the Philippines or call using SkypeOut to landline phones or cellphones at relatively cheaper rates. So when I read that Skype has launched its mobile application for the Nokia N95, I was thrilled [...]

Getting Connected: Speed vs Mobility

Hardly a day goes by without getting connected to the internet to keep abreast of news and technology or check email. Nowadays, there are so many ways to access the net and the rates have become so affordable compared to the dial-up days. I am currently subscribed to Smart Bro’s Fixed Wireless Broadband for my [...]
